With the Fit for 55 package, the European Union aims to reduce its carbon emissions by 55 percent compared to 1990 levels by 2030. An essential part of this strategy is the so-called Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), an extension of the existing Emissions Trading System (ETS).
